29/05/2012 (Agence Europe) - Human rights dialogue. The European Union and the Republic of Moldova held the third round of their human rights dialogue in Brussels on 23 May. The two parties discussed the human rights situation in Moldova, focusing on the fight against all forms of discrimination, the human rights situation in the Transnistrian region, the freedom of the media and the fight against impunity and ill-treatment. They discussed the law passed that same day by the Moldovan parliament which seeks to ensure equality. The Moldovans gave assurances that the law is intended to cover all grounds for discrimination in line with the international commitments of the Republic of Moldova. They also undertook to issue guidelines on the implementation of the law, which will be monitored by the EU. A follow-up expert seminar on fighting impunity will be organised in the second half of this year. (CG/transl.rt)
