14/05/2012 (Agence Europe) - Directive on interconnection of trade registers adopted. On Thursday 10 May, the Council of the EU definitively adopted the first-reading agreement negotiated with European Parliament on the directive on the interconnection of the trade registers. The new legislation will make it possible to network the national trade registers, in order to improve information on European companies. This directive is also expected to give a shot in the arm to cross-border trade and promote a better economic environment, according to a Council press release. According to the text adopted, the member states will be obliged to make their registers interoperable via a single European electronic platform. The information in question will include company statuses, their headquarters and capital. (SP/transl.fl)
