Greek banks suffer enormous losses in 2011. - As expected, Greek banks have experienced enormous losses due to the restructuring of the country's sovereign debt. The four main banks in the country, the National Bank of Greece (BNG), Alpha Bank, Eurobank and the Bank of Piraeus alone lost a total of €27.9 billion in 2011, including more than €23 billion following devaluation from their Greek sovereign debt portfolios.
