Closure of Mauritanian pelagic fishery

Brussels, 25/04/2012 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission announced on Tuesday 24 April that it had decided to close the pelagic fishery by EU vessels in the waters of Mauritania, as the annual EU quota set in the EU-Mauritania fisheries agreement is nearly exhausted.

The closure affects pelagic freezer trawlers fishing mainly for pelagic species such as sardine, sardinella and mackerel. The member states involved (Netherlands, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, United Kingdom and Germany)...
