Brussels, 26/03/2012 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission decided on Friday 23 March to allocate €164.5 million to increase food security in the Sahel region where 15 million people are at risk of famine. The European Commission has already provided €123.5 million for the early humanitarian response to the crisis in the five countries of the region which had launched an appeal to the international community (Mauritania, Chad, Mali, Niger and Senegal).
