United Kingdom against enlargement freeze

Brussels, 08/03/2012 (Agence Europe) - British European Affairs Minister David Lidington said, on Thursday 8 March, that his country is opposed to the idea of a moratorium on European enlargement that a number of countries wish to impose because of the financial crisis. “It seems to us that the principle is quite clear: if a country is European and meets the accession criteria for membership then it should be entitled to membership of the European Union - no ifs and buts”, Lidington said...
