07/03/2012 (Agence Europe) - Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Füle met Ümit Boyner, Chairman of the Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen's Association (TÜSIAD) on Wednesday 7 March. TÜSIAD is a “key partner” of the EU in monitoring reform and the European agenda in Turkey. Füle made the point that: “Further reform efforts are necessary; a new civilian constitution can act as a catalyst and provide a basis for further progress regarding the respect for fundamental rights and freedoms in Turkey”. “The work on the positive agenda is crucial to give the accession process new momentum and it also creates conditions for stakeholders like TÜSIAD to re-engage in the enlargement agenda” he added.
