05/01/2012 (Agence Europe) - REWE/SAG Joint Venture. On 5 January the European Commission granted clearance to the acquisition of joint control of a newly-created joint venture by the Austrian REWE International AG (belonging to the German REWE Group) and the Austrian Salzburg AG für Energie, Verkehr und Telekommunikation (SAG). The joint venture will operate an electric car sharing business primarily in Salzburg. REWE is mainly active in food retail, with different supermarkets (e.g. Billa, Merkur), in food wholesale (AGM) and in operating drugstores (BIPA). SAG is an integrated supplier of different services, such as electricity, natural gas, district heating, water, transport, and telecommunications in Salzburg.
