Brussels, 09/12/2011 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 9 December, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton reiterated her calls to the Iraqi authorities and opposition taking refuge in camp Ashraf to “show flexibility and cooperate fully to find a satisfactory solution”. This appeal was launched further to a meeting with the head of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, Martin Kobler. “The safety of the people in the camp must be our principal concern”, she added. She reiterated her support to the efforts of this mission and of the High Commission for Refugees. “The initiative of UN High Commissioner Antonio Guterres and Mr Kobler's work are vital to facilitate a proper solution to the problem, which fully respects human rights and international humanitarian law”, she said.
