Compulsory electronic tagging of sheep delayed

Brussels, 08/12/2011 (Agence Europe) - The EU has decided to allow more time - until 1 January 2015 - for an electronic identification system for sheep to be put in place. Following approval of this decision in the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health on 6 December, the Commission will formally adopt the changes to be made to Regulation 21/2004 establishing an identification and registration system for sheep and goats.
