Brussels, 17/11/2011 (Agence Europe) - The new prime minister of Italy, Mario Monti, will be in Brussels next week when he will meet with the president of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, and most probably also the president of the European Commission, José Manuel Durão Barroso. Van Rompuy himself was the first to make the announcement, tweeting on Thursday 17 November after a telephone conversation with Monti: “We discussed the current situation in the euro area and particularly in Italy. I expressed the EU's full confidence on the Italian capacity to overcome its current situation and to fully contribute to solving the current euro area financial crisis. We agreed to continue our discussion in a meeting in Brussels next week.”
