Brussels, 20/10/2011 (Agence Europe) - The Conference of the Presidents of the political groups in the European Parliament (EP) decided on Thursday 20 October to unblock three legislative texts related to home affairs (directives on the single permit, qualifications and child sex abuse) with its approval of a compromise on correlation tables (see EUROPE 10477). The groups ultimately accepted a proposal from the Polish Presidency of the EU Council, previously accepted by the Council: member states will detail for the Commission national measures for transposing the directives but only insofar as this is possible and without their being under any obligation unless the Commission asks. The ALDE Group was the only one not to support this agreement on Thursday. At the end of 2012, the EP will be required to take stock of the agreement, the groups decided. The three texts which had been blocked will now be formally adopted in plenary session, then by a Council session and will come into effect immediately. (SP/transl.rt)
