22/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - Vegetables - Russia opens its borders to imports from France, Hungary and Italy. Russian health authorities announced on Friday 22 July that French, Hungarian and Italian vegetables had been added to the list of European products no longer under the embargo imposed by Moscow on 2 June, as a response to the deadly E.coli outbreak. Imports of French vegetables have already been authorised and imports of vegetables from Italy and Hungary will be allowed from 25 July, the Russian health authorities said. Since the end of June, Russia has approved, one after the other, imports from the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Greece and Poland. Every year, the EU exports 1.1 million tonnes of vegetables, worth €600 million, to Russia, according to the European Commission. (E.H./transl.rt)
