An open letter signed by 51 MEPs was sent to the President of the European Council, the Presidency of the Council of the EU and the European Commission on Thursday 26 May calling for a moratorium on public funding on mining projects. Thijs Berman (S&D, Netherlands) said that, in the absence of clear rules, the added value of mining projects was “highly debatable”. (J.K./transl.rt)
