26/05/2011 (Agence Europe) - ACT calls on Commission to grant greater importance to content suppliers. At the launch of the brochure Content & Consumers - How commercial broadcasters have updated their business models in the online world, the Association of Commercial Television in Europe (ACT) calls on the European Commission to consider the content industry as a key stakeholder in the Digital Agenda. “The content industry is a major contributor to growth and employment in Europe. Commercial broadcasters are enthusiastically embracing the online opportunities and take financial risk in developing new content for all platforms”, said ACT chief executive Philippe Delusinne. He said that debates surrounding the European Commission's Digital Agenda were dominated by the concerns of the information and communication technology (ICT) sector. Yet it will be the experiences of digital content companies that will be decisive in persuading consumers to sign up to a digital Europe, Delusinne added. (I.L./transl.rt)
