25/05/2011 (Agence Europe) - Better inclusion of water in development policy. The Foreign Affairs Council met in Brussels on Tuesday 24 May in its Development format and held a political debate on water and development, by initiative of the Hungarian Presidency, which has made the sustainable management of water resources a cross-cutting priority of its term in office. "It is clear that we want water and sanitation to be better integrated in the future development policy of the EU", said Catherine Ashton, after the session. She was referring to the future of this policy beyond 2013. (A.N./transl.fl)
