09/05/2011 (Agence Europe) - EU and Indonesia have concluded a voluntary FLEGT (Forest Law Enforcement Governance and Trade) agreement to tackle illegal felling of trees. This agreement will guarantee that only timber felled in line with Indonesian law can be exported to the EU. Four years in the making, the agreement was initialled in Jakarta on 4 May. Preparation for its implementation is under way, while awaiting formal ratification. (A.N./transl.rt)
