On 18 April, the European Commission granted clearance to the acquisition by Warburg Pincus LLC and Vestar Capital Partners, both of the US, of joint control of Triton Container International Ltd of Bermuda. Warburg Pincus and Vestar are private equity investors. Their portfolio companies are active in a variety of sectors but do not overlap in Europe. Triton is an international maritime cargo container leasing company headquartered in Bermuda, with its main operating offices in London and San Francisco. It is active worldwide in the leasing of maritime containers to maritime shipping companies. The operation was examined under the simplified merger review procedure. (F.G./transl.fl)
