Jens Weidmann new head of Bundesbank

Brussels, 16/02/2011 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 16 February, the German government decided to appoint Jens Weidmann, an economic advisor to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, as new Governor of the Bundesbank, replacing Axel Weber who took the German government by surprise when he suddenly announced that he would be leaving the Bundesbank at the end of April (see EUROPE 10315).
