03/02/2011 (Agence Europe) - Hungarian aid scheme to farmers. On Thursday 3 February, the European Commission authorised the extension (until 31 December 2011) of a temporary Hungarian aid scheme assisting farmers, which could be worth up to €15,000 for each beneficiary. This system was initially approved on 5 January 2010 and is supposed to help farmers tackle the difficulties generated by the economic crisis. These farmers will be able to request aid up to 31 March 2011 and the Hungarian authorities will be able to grant this aid to them until 31 December 2011. The Commission considers that this extension of the scheme complies with conditions contained within the temporary state aid framework for promoting companies' access to funding during crisis periods, which was adopted in December 2010 (F.G./transl.fl)
