31/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - Mergers. On Friday 28 January 2011, the European Commission gave the go-ahead to two mergers, both examined using the simplified procedure. Beauty and bodycare products manufacturer Johnson & Johnson of the US is buying up Crucell of the Netherlands, a company making vaccines, proteins and antibodies for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. Dutch private equity companies Gilde and Parcom are acquiring joint control of Dutch company Gamma, specialising in the sale of innovative textile products like sail cloth, mattress fabrics, conveyor belts, filters and the like.
