Moves to strengthen legislation following scandal

Brussels, 18/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is determined to learn the lessons from the dioxin contaminated meat and eggs scandal in Germany. On Monday 17 January, it announced that it would present proposals to ensure that feed grade fats and industrial fat would be strictly segregated.

The German authorities have been obliged to quarantine more than 900 farms in Lower Saxony, after discovering that one of the 25 animal feed manufacturers which had received dioxin...
