08/07/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 8 July, Jutta Haug (S&D, Germany) was elected chairwoman of the special committee on the policy challenges and budgetary resources for a sustainable European Union after 2013. The key tasks of this committee, which will hold its first meeting at the start of September 2010, are to define the European Parliament's political and budgetary priorities for the new financial perspectives after 2014. The special committee's mandate will run until July 2011. It is then that the European Commission will reveal its proposals on the new EU multi-annual financial framework. The committee deputy chairs are: Anne Jensen (ALDE, Denmark), Jan Olbrycht (EPP, Poland), Konrad Szymañski (ECR, Poland) and Helga Trüpel (Greens/EFA, Germany). Salvador Garriga Polledo (EPP, Spain) will be the rapporteur on this issue. (A.By./transl.rt)
