27/04/2010 (Agence Europe) - Catherine Ashton, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, has called on Turkey and Armenia to continue the process of rapprochement despite the decision taken by the Armenian authorities to suspend ratification of the protocols concluded with Ankara on restoring normal relations between the two countries. “The EU reiterates its call to both countries to continue their dialogue and remain committed to the process of normalisation without preconditions and in a reasonable timeframe”, Ashton's spokesperson said on 26 April. “Full normalisation of bilateral relations between Armenia and Turkey will contribute to security, stability and cooperation in the Southern Caucasus”, she said. The EU, for its part, is willing to provide political and technical support for the process, she added. (H.B./transl.jl)
