19/04/2010 (Agence Europe) - The Taxpayers' Association of Europe (TAE) says that the ideas put forward by Olli Rehn to boost the stability and growth pact (SGP) are a step in the right direction. Infringements of the SGP should be consistently punished using existing mechanisms, argues the TAE in a press release. TAE chairman Rolf von Hohenhau says that strict interpretation of the Maastricht criteria and vigorous implementation of penalties are needed, along with greater budget discipline at national level.
