Council supports creation of European Network of Reference Centres for animal welfare

Brussels, 23/02/2010 (Agence Europe) - A large majority of European agriculture ministers supported the idea, on Monday 22 February, of setting up a European Network of Reference Centres for the protection and well-being of animals. This would be a first step towards animal welfare labelling, to appear on foodstuff labelling. Nonetheless, ministers were divided over this labelling system.
