15/02/2010 (Agence Europe) - On 16 March, in Brussels, the European Commission will be holding a conference on the EU's trade policy for developing countries. The aim is to allow stakeholders to discuss how trade policy can best take into account the needs of developing countries, and adjust to this. There will be four working sessions devoted respectively to the generalised system of preferences (GSP), regional agreements, the place of small developing countries, and the integration of sustainable development concerns in trade policy instruments. The conference will be attended by Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht, Director General at DG Trade David O'Sullivan and his colleague responsible for EPA, Peter Thompson, Deputy WTO Director General Alejandro Jara, as well as Peter Štastn? (EPP, Slovakia) and Niccolo Rinaldi (ALDE, Italy). (E.H./transl.jl)
