21/01/2010 (Agence Europe) - Mindful of the need to use all forms of communication, the president of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek launched his Twitter account (http: //twitter.com/jerzybuzek) on Thursday 21 January. Buzek already has a Facebook account (http: //http://www.facebook.com/jerzybuzek ) which, he says, has enjoyed great success. “The European Parliament is increasingly influential and must be increasingly present. Modern technology, including social media, gives people the opportunity to interact and have their say,” he argues. Buzek, who writes his messages in English, used his first Twitter message, following the Conference of the Presidents (see related article) on Thursday, to announce that the final vote on the Barroso Commission would take place on 9 February.
