04/01/2010 (Agence Europe) - The updated stability programme in Greece is not expected to get to the European Commission before the end of January. According to Reuters, a senior official from the Greek finance ministry explained on Monday 4 January that the Greek government and parliament would make respective declarations on 15 and 20 of this month in this connection. Member states are obliged to present an updated version of their stability and convergence plans by the end of the month and the Greek authorities made a commitment to send it as soon as possible, pointed out a spokesperson for Commissioner Almunia. Once the document is analysed, the Commission will propose, in view of the ECOFIN Council on 16 February, the setting of a new deadline and new budget deficit adjustment measures for the country (EUROPE 10032).
