04/01/2010 (Agence Europe) - The Spanish prime minister, José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, has decided to regularly consult several figures regarding questions of EU economic governance. According to the newspaper El Pais, Mr Zapatero has invited his predecessor Felipe Gonzalez and the former president of the European Commission, Jacques Delors, to meet on Tuesday 5 January in Madrid to discuss the coordination of European economic policies. The three men will meet in Madrid alongside former commissioner, Pedro Soles, and the current Spanish minister for the economy, Elena Salgado. Enhanced European economic government will be among the priority objectives of the Spanish Presidency. (A.B./transl.fl)
