EPP Statutory Congress on 9 and 10 December

Brussels, 08/12/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European People's Party (EPP), the largest political party in Europe, is to hold its Statutory Congress in Bonn (Germany) on 9 and 10 December. At an invitation from its president, Wilfried Martens, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, some 1,500 participants will take part in two roundtable discussions on the economic and financial crisis as well as on social market economy as a solution to the crisis, and the fight against climate change. Delegates expected to take part at the event include several EPP heads of state or government, including: Fredrik Reinfeldt, European Council President, and French, Polish and Belgian Prime Ministers François Fillon, Donald Tusk, and Yves Leterme. European Commission President José Manuel Barroso, nominated President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek, and the chairman of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, Joseph Daul, will also attend.
