European Parliament is ready to negotiate with EU Council on agricultural geographical indications

On Thursday 1 June, the European Parliament endorsed its position amending the proposal on geographical indications for agricultural products.

The report by Paolo De Castro (S&D, Italian) was adopted during the European Parliament plenary session with 603 votes in favour, 18 against and 8 abstentions. The report was referred back to committee to enable negotiations to be launched with the EU Council with a view to an interinstitutional agreement on this dossier under the Spanish Presidency...
