30/06/2008 (Agence Europe) - In a press release issued on Monday 30 June, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) Javier Solana welcomed the appointment, with effect from 1 July 2008, of French General Jean-Paul Michel as head of the EU advisory and assistance mission for the reform of the security sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo (EUSEC RD Congo). “I welcome General Michel's appointment to the post of head of EUSEC RD Congo operations. With his deep knowledge of Africa and his long experience in the field, General Michel has all the qualities needed to carry out his new responsibilities at the head of this mission to support the reform of the armed forces in the DRC.
