28/01/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 25 January, EU ministers of the interior held a debate on the interim report from the high level group in post 2010 home affairs (the “Future” group). Discussions focused on the improvement of information exchange in police cooperation, at national and European levels, as well as with third countries. The French minister of the interior, Michèle Alliot-Marie, underlined that the EU was expected to define conditions for reciprocity on information sharing with third countries. The “Future” group will meet twice between now and the end of June to examine issues involving the management of borders, police cooperation and asylum. A final report will be presented during the informal Council meeting under the French presidency in July. (B.C.)
