09/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - In the context of enterprise policy, the European Commission considers that it is a matter of priority to ensure there are European quality services regarding information and assistance to enterprise. Commissioner Erkki Liikanen tackled this subject on Thursday at the European conference of host structures of the Euro Info Centres (EIC), which took stock of the situation on the approximation of networks and on the most appropriate solutions for making them still more successful and closer to the needs of enterprise, and mainly SMEs. Reform comes further to a Commission communication of February this year on future guidelines aimed at rationalising and integrating the various Community networks. The structures that host these services at local level (chambers of commerce, development agencies, professional associations, etc.) will have a major role to play in ensuring the policy is carried out.
