23/10/2026 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Friday 23 October that it had opened a consultation, running until 4 December, to prepare its 2027 annual report on the rule of law in the Member States. Although the consultation is aimed in particular at associations of judges, civil society organisations, NGOs, international organisations and EU agencies, businesses are also invited to contribute in light of the attention paid to the single market in this exercise since the 2025 edition. The contributions that are received will enable the European Commission to assess any national developments and progress that has been made since the previous report was published in July 2026, and to supplement its discussions with the Member States.
