12/07/2016 (Agence Europe) - 'Panama Papers' committee of enquiry set up. The European Parliament committee of enquiry into the “Panama Papers” scandal has been set up, with few surprises regarding its composition. As we reported at the end of June, it will indeed consist of Werner Langen (EPP, Germany) as chair of the committee (EUROPE 11579). The first vice president will be Ana Gomes (S&D, Portugal), the second vice president will be Pirkko Ruohonen-Lerner (ECR, Finland). Fabio De Masi (GUNE/NGL, Germany) and Eva Joly (Greens/EFA, France), will also be vice presidents. It has not yet been made official but the rapporteurs are expected to be the MEPs Jeppe Kofod (S&D, Denmark) and Petr Jezek (ALDE, Czech Republic). The committee's mandate of enquiry will expire on 8 June 2017. (EL)
