21/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - Naftogaz makes second payment for October Russian gas supplies. The Ukrainian gas company, Naftogaz, has made a second early payment of $136 million for Russian gas supplies to Ukraine in October, according to an announcement made by the Ukrainian Minister for Energy, Volodymyr Demchyshyn, as reported by the Interfax agency on Tuesday 20 October. The Russian gas company, Gazprom, confirmed on 12 October the early payment by Naftogaz of $234 million out of the $500 million promised for the early payment for gas supplies in October. On 25 September, Russia and Ukraine reached an agreement under EU mediation, on a binding memorandum of understanding for Russian gas supplies to Ukraine for the 2015/2016 winter, which includes commitments from the three parties to guarantee these supplies (see EUROPE 11398).
