20/06/2011 (Agence Europe) - Council conclusions on child poverty. In conclusions adopted on 17 June, the EPSCO Council invited member states to adequately emphasise the aspects of child poverty within their national policies in a comprehensive manner covering appropriate jobs and adequate income for families, as well as providing services in early childhood development, education, housing and health-care. It called on them, inter alia, not to lose sight of the fact that tackling child poverty could not be separated from the situation of families: decent employment opportunities for parents, adequate family benefits and income support, arrangements for reconciling work and family life, and parenting support services are crucial.
