06/03/2009 (Agence Europe) - At the opening of the European Parliament plenary session in Strasbourg on Tuesday 10 March, President Hans-Gert Pöttering is expected to make a short statement as a reminder that 16 March will be the 30th anniversary of the death of Jean Monnet (16 March 1979). Monnet was declared an “Honour Citizen of Europe” by the European Council in Luxembourg in April 1976. (L.C./transl.rt)
