14/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - The French proposal on food safety (see above), which received the strong support of Germany, was formulated on Monday 14 April during the presentation of the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations) High Level Conference on World Food Security and the Challenges of Climate Change and Bioenergy. The actual conference will take place on 3-5 June 2008 in Rome. This meeting aims to “identify agriculture as part of the problem and a possible solution for heal safety issues in the context of climate change and increasing production of biofuels”. The Austrian delegation pointed out that on 26-27 June in Innsbruck, the FAO 26th Regional Conference for Europe - would provide the occasion for roundtable discussions on adapting to climate change and promoting regional agricultural products.
