12/03/2008 (Agence Europe) - In a press release published on Monday 10 March, the president of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, congratulated Lawrence Gonzi for his re-election to the post of prime minster of the Republic of Malta. Mr Gonzi's nationalist party won a slim victory of just 1,500 votes in the legislative elections organised on the island on 8 March, ahead of the Labour Party under Alfred Sant. (A.B.)
