20/11/2007 (Agence Europe) - France intends to create a European immigration charter by the end of 2008, French Prime Minister François Fillon indicated on 17 November at a cabinet meeting to prepare the future French presidency of the EU. According to Mr Fillon, this charter would, “at least within the Schengen area”, constitute a first step towards the harmonisation of rules on visas, naturalisation policy and other immigration issues.
