28/08/2006 (Agence Europe) - Polish authorities have until the end of this month to submit their restructuring plans for Polish shipyards to the European Commission. Neelie Kroes wrote to the Polish finance minister at the end of July to inform him that she had still not received satisfactory restructuring plans, her spokesman told press on Monday. Without credible restructuring plans demonstrating the viability of the companies in question, aid would be deed illegal, he added. In June 2005, the Commission opened an enquiry into aid granted by Polish central and local authorities to the Gdynia, Gdansk and Szczecin shipyards (see EUROPE 8959).
