25/07/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 24 July, the Council adopted without debate decisions authorising the European Commission to negotiate a stabilisation and association agreement (SAA) with Montenegro, which has been independent since 21 May. The Council also adopted a decision amending the negotiating directives for the SAA with Serbia (see EUROPE 9227).
