11/07/2006 (Agence Europe) - The controversial draft reform of the common organisation of the wine market presented by the European Commission will be the subject of a public audition on the “sustainable development of the wine sector” to be held on 12 July, and organised by the European parliament's agriculture committee, chaired by Joseph Daul (EPP-ED, France). A delegation from the Rioja region is in Brussels to defend the interests of wine growers in their region of Spain, and for talks with the chairman of the Parliamentary international trade committee Enrique Baron (Socialist, Spain), Greek Socialist MEP Katerina Batzeli and also Spanish Socialist MEP Rosa Miguelez examining the draft reform from a Spanish point of view, says the press release.
