21/04/2006 (Agence Europe) - In a press release, the European Movement International and its President Pat Cox welcome the release of Mikhail Marynich, President of the European Movement Belarus and former Minister of Foreign Economic Relations. He left prison after more than two years in a considerably worsened physical condition. “As we have seen in recent elections in Belarus, people like Mr Marynich are risking their lives … for the most noble cause - to fight for democracy, where it does not exist,” said Mr Cox. Mr Marynich affirmed, “Prison has convinced me that we should move ahead, we should fight for fast changes”. According to the press release, the former Minister “is determined to come back to politics after rehabilitation activities”.
