29/03/2006 (Agence Europe) - During the debate on the European sustainable development strategy (EU SDS), the Transport Council of 27 March said that discussions on the contribution of the EU transport policy to this strategy will take place during the mid-term review of the White Paper on the European transport Policy, scheduled for April. The Council insisted on the need to further strengthen synergies and coherence across Community policies, notably the link between the EU SDS and the Lisbon Strategy. The Council also highlighted the need to link internal EU policies and its international commitments, by incorporating at Community level environmental and social objectives agreed internationally.
