17/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - Euro zone industrial production increased in 0.1% in December 2005 compared to November, whereas that of the EU25 notched up a rise of 0.3%. In November 2005, increases were 1.4% and 1.1% respectively. Compared to December 2004, industrial production increased by 2.5% in both zones. In December 2005, compared to November, the production of the energy sector increased by 2.9% in the euro zone and by 2.3% in the EU25. Non-durable consumer goods rose 0.8% and 0.7% respectively. Lasting consumer goods fell by 0.1% in the euro zone but increased by 0.6% in EU25. Investment goods fell by 0.5% in the euro zone and by 0.1% in EU25. Intermediary goods declined by 0.6% and 0.1% respectively. Production in sixteen Member States rose in December (Luxembourg in the lead with 8.4%), followed by Portugal with 5.4% and Denmark 4.2%) and fell in six (Ireland with -6.8%, Greece -1.2% and Germany -0.6%).
