09/01/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 8 January, Austrian Vice-Chancellor Hubert Gorbach told a group of European journalists in Vienna that the European Union should open a debate on the possibility of introducing a European “Green Card” for managing legal economic immigration onto the European labour market. He nonetheless stressed that each Member State should maintain the right to fix its own quotas of immigrants from third countries.
